Steve Mark is a lawyer by profession, and served as the New South Wales Legal Services Commissioner for 19 years.
Steve was appointed as the first NSW Legal Services Commissioner in July 1994 and served in this role until August 2013. As Commissioner, his office was responsible for co-regulating legal practitioners with the Law Society of NSW and the NSW Bar Association to resolve disputes and investigate complaints about legal practitioners.
Prior to his appointment as Legal Services Commissioner, Steve was President of the New South Wales Anti-Discrimination Board from 1988 to 1994. He has practised law in Australia and the United Kingdom, specialising in criminal, immigration and human rights law.
After stepping down as Legal Services Commissioner, Steve started Creative Consequences, a boutique advisory and consultancy firm specialising in providing high level policy assistance to professions and industry groups.
