Dr Allison Stanfield has 30 years experience as a lawyer and in business, with a unique expertise in digital evidence and ediscovery.

In her private legal practice, with an international clientele, Allison’s expertise includes advising on cyber security compliance, privacy and commercial contracts. Having obtained a PhD in electronic evidence, Allison also maintains a keen interest in all things digital.

As Chief Legal & Compliance Officer for one of her key clients, a global software company, Allison is responsible for cyber security compliance, privacy and negotiating high value contracts. Given her background, Allison also works with the team on new innovations, including more recently the ingestion of evidence resulting from investigations into crypto asset infractions.

Other private clients include start-up software and app vendors, for whom Allison drafts terms & conditions, privacy policies and otherwise advises on compliance and commercial contracts. In the event of dispute, Allison works with clients to employ alternative dispute resolution procedures, going to court only if necessary. Previously, Allison worked in mid and top tier law firms and worked as a court registrar before setting up e.law, a specialist e.evidence company, and which ran Australia’s first e.hearing and won an award for innovation.

Allison speaks regularly on the topic of electronic evidence and is a co-author of a chapter in the Fifth Edition of ‘Electronic Evidence and Electronic Signatures’, edited by Stephen Mason and Daniel Seng, published in 2021 and is also co-editor of Digital Evidence and Electronic Signature Law Review.
